On the dangers of broadcast signals Enciclical “MIRANDA PRORSUS” PIUS XII

“Unless the mounting development of technical skill, applied to the diffusion of pictures, sounds and ideas, is subjected to the sweet yoke of the law of Christ (Matth., XI, 30), it can be the source of countless evils, which appear to be all the more serious, because not only material forces but also the mind are unhappily enslaved”.

“To be at the service of the truth demands not only that all refrain from error, from lies, from deceit of all kinds, but also that they shun everything that can encourage a manner of living and acting which is false, imperfect, or harmful to another party.

But above all, let the truths, handed down by God’s revelation, be held sacred and inviolable.”

“as We declared a few years ago ( Cfr. Sermo ad radiophonicae artis cultores conventum ex omnibus Nationibus participantes: d. 5 Maii, a. 1950; Discorsi e Radiomessaggi di S S. Pio XII, vol. XII, pag. 75.), that to be present at Mass portrayed by Television is not the same as being actually present at the Divine Sacrifice”

Should Holy Mass be broadcast?

URGENT CALL TO PRIESTS AND FAITHFUL

Does the Holy Mass broadcast break that essential barrier that must exist between the sacred and the profane?

Before answering, we must remember and regret that the authority to protect the common good of the Catholic Church is not qualified at this time to answer this question for now due to its systematic position of apostasy, of continuous destruction of what is most sacred.

The current authority has no interest in protecting the sacred deposit of the Catholic Church. We leave it up to the Holy Church to make a final judgment on this important matter in the near future.

For now, it is up to us to discern what the will of God is regarding this important issue. We must protect the Sacred against all kinds of desecration. We must continue to defend Jesus Christ Our Lord and his Holy Church through the Traditional Magisterium already revealed. Let us now answer this question in this light of the Magisterium of the Church and the principles of faith.

Definition: The Holy Mass is the very realization of the Holy Sacrifice of Calvary of Our Lord Jesus Christ in a real but in an unbloddy manner.

Definition: “Transmission” is a tool or human platform for the transmission of a live or delayed video through the internet or TV.

I – THE HOLY MASS IS DIVINE
 a) The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is Divine in nature:

1.- Jesus Christ Our Lord is who through the priest offers his Holy Sacrifice of Calvary to his Heavenly Father (The efficient cause is divine).
2.- It is the bloodless Holy Sacrifice of the Passion and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ (The formal cause is divine).
3.- What is offered in the Holy Mass is the Body, the Blood, the Soul, and the Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. (The material cause is divine).
4.- To apply the merits of the Sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus Christ for propitiation for our sins, for adoration, thanksgiving, and for prayer of petition to God the Father (The proximate final cause which has divine value). The Holy Mass is offered for the greater Glory of God (The remote final cause is divine).

b) The Holy Mass in its circumstances must be sacred:

The means by which the Holy Sacrifice is offered have been sacred and must always be so. The Church’s building is sacred, the minister is sacred, the language is sacred (Latin), the utensils and the songs (i.e. Gregorian), they are also. The silence is rigorous since in his house only God speaks. Ornaments, art, and architecture are sacred, they are designed to elevate the soul to God. The purpose of everything that surrounds the Holy Sacrifice must lead to glory, adoration, honor, praise, and respect for all the Sacred and Divine reality of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is an absolute necessity to avoid in Holy Mass all those purely human means that degrade it, desecrate it, desecrate it, or have a purely human purpose.

No worldly activity has ever been allowed within the sacred precinct such as eating, sleeping, communicating, being distracted, selling, etc. If, for example, one were to remove the walls of a Church and wanted to celebrate Holy Mass there (as is done in exceptional cases when celebrating Holy Mass in the open field sometimes), that would be like taking away the protection that separates the sacred from profane. That barrier is what prevents the world and the purely human from penetrating the sacred precinct. This essential barrier between the divine and the human is what prevents a woman from entering the temple without a veil or modesty. One cannot behave in the same way in a sacred place as in a human place. The temple and everything that surrounds the Holy Liturgy is consecrated to God precisely so that that person, thing, or place is used exclusively for divine worship.

c) Holy Mass is attended by Catholics and in a Catholic way:

Thanks to our consecration by holy baptism and supernatural faith, it is how a Catholic possesses the passive priesthood that enables him to be able to participate in Holy Mass, either in person or only spiritually. By faith and charity the Catholic participates in Holy Mass with intelligence, will, memory, and senses, all of them consecrated for this purpose on the day of our baptism.

II– ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CAN ONLY BE USED FOR HUMAN PURPOSES
In contrast, live-streaming technology is a human tool constantly used for human activities. Just as profane language, such as English and Spanish, are used for human things on a regular basis, so is video transmission, live-streaming. This technology is not only not sacred and incapable of raising the image to God. Live-streaming and delayed transmission are a human medium not proportional to divine reality and therefore are completely incapable of elevating the person who witnesses the transmission of Holy Mass to the supernatural level.

III- ARGUMENTS OF AUTHORITY AGAINST THE TRANSMISSION OF THE MASS

1.- “How venerable is this place! It is nothing but the house of God and the door of Heaven” (Gen 28,17)

2.- “Do not give what is holy to dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine” (Mt 7,6)

3.- “And what transaction (can there be) between the temple of God and idols?” (2 Cor 6,16)

4.- “For this reason the woman must carry on her head (the sign of being under) authority, out of respect for the angels.”

5.- “Uzza stretched out his hand towards the ark of God, and held it… And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Uzza, and God struck him there for his irreverence; and there he died beside the ark of God ”(2 Samuel 6: 5-7).

6.- “My house will be a house of prayer. But you have made it a bandit’s cave! ” (Luke 19:45)

IV- ARGUMENTS AGAINST THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION OF THE HOLY MASS

1- God does not receive from Catholics the adoration, love, honor, reverence, respect, and the required dispositions that are due to God when there is virtual “attendance” of Holy Mass.

2.- The places to where the Holy Mass is transmitted will never have the sacred environment and circumstances that are required to witness such a sublime mystery.

3.- The authority responsible for the sacred, the priest, has the impossibility of supervising the decorum, respect, modesty of the places, people and electronic devices that receive “the divine signal”. It is the strict obligation of every priest to take care of respect for the sacred; we have received the sacred Order of Hostiary to carry out this function. “Do not give what is sacred to dogs … nor cast your pearls to swine” (Mat 7,6).

4.- The electronic tool used is not sanctified or consecrated and therefore is incapable of transporting or transmitting the sacred. Just as the Holy Mass should not be prayed through a vernacular language, since it is not a sacred language, in the same way the internet should not be used to transport the sacred. Due to the physical impediment due to the distance, the faculty of hearing is the only way elevated by God that is available to be able to follow the Holy Mass in such circumstances. (as well as when someone can attend Holy Mass behind the walls of the Church). As when using a microphone to amplify the signal, one therefore should only transmit or listen the audio of a Mass transmitted over the internet.

5.- The ordinary place for the celebration of Holy Mass is the house of God, a sacred place where only God speaks, prays and sacrifices Himself. “Live-streaming” is to go through and ignore the walls of the house of God to bring something divine to a place and through a means NOT consecrated exclusively for the use of God. (This is what is properly called desecrating the sacred).

6.-The final delivery of the transmission or live-streaming, can become flawed, distorted, influenced, and even changed, by messages, frequencies, hidden things that are out of our control and at the mercy of the enemies of the Church. They are the ones who control the media. “If the salt loses its flavor, with what will it be salty? It is worth nothing more than to be thrown out and trampled on by men. ” (Mt 5.13).

7.- The virtual cannot replace the real. Remote participation in a Holy Mass was always done by faith in a spiritual way. (Mass and spiritual Communion). Charity through faith is the vehicle left by God to unite us to his divine mysteries when the sacraments are absent.

8.- Visual transmission technology is essentially a saturation of 24 to 60 images per second (fps). The images on the screens saturate the imagination when transmitting and therefore intellectual activity is diminished and hampered and even attacked. In addition, the ability to concentrate and pray drastically decrease. It has never been an adequate means to promote prayer since the moving image is essentially an obstacle to recollection.

9.- The sacred is left exposed to malicious, profane, impure and even satanic eyes.

10.- Pope John XXIII also opened the doors of the sacred so that the profane world could enter it. “I want to open wide the windows of the Church, so that we can see what happens outside, and that the world can see what happens inside the Church.” (John XXIII, January 25, 1959). Modernism has systematically desecrated everything Sacred with the excuse of bringing the Church closer to the world. The result has been the opposite. The Conciliar Church has become like the same world, worldly. It is the agenda of aggiornamento or putting into fashion, of John XXIII at the Second Vatican Council; agenda that all modernist popes have continued.

11.-The Holy Mass is out of time. The Holy Mass, being divine, happens in the PRESENT tense in a divine way. It is the attendance at the Passion and death of Christ Our Lord on Calvary, although in a bloodless way. Only by faith can this mystery be witnessed in its time dimension in a divine way. A human instrument used in the present tense in a human way, telecommunications systems, should not be used to contemplate this mystery which happens in a divine PRESENT tense.

12.- The transmission of the Holy Mass necessarily diminishes faith and cools off charity since the a principle dictates that “if we do not pray as we believe (in an environment and in a sacred and Theocentric environment), we will end up believing as we live (walking  little by little towards anthropocentrism).

13.- The mutual example of piety and the public profession of faith are almost completely lost when attending a “Virtual Mass” since it is surrounded by profane elements that do not elevate the soul to God.

The final question that many will be asking is: If I do not have the possibility of going to Holy Tridentine Mass with a trustworthy priest, how can I sanctify Sunday if I should not join it through Internet transmission or TV?

I respond by saying that we must spiritually unite ourselves to Holy Mass adding the making of Spiritual Communion. Also complement with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, the Stations of the Cross and listen to or read a sermon.
